Q: We are looking at a plot in XXXXXXXX where we live, we was wondering if we could copy the line of a pair of semis that is already there, we would ideally like to get another pair right next door but what would be even better is to carry the line along building 6 houses (3 pair of semis).
A: Copying plan-form is a really good and effective way of early assessment of site and something I encourage. The key considerations is impact to the character and appearance of the street and the amenity of the adjoining and surrounding occupiers in terms of loss of light, outlook and the creation of a strong sense of enclosure.
Car parking will need to be dealt with sensibly and you will need a noise assessment for any adjoining noisy uses such as the nearby petrol station.
