Infill between houses

Q: I’m considering this infill lot to help my daughter get on the property ladder. Looks simple enough…but of course I know planning isn’t always that simple.

A: The first principle with infill is to ensure that there are no windows to the adjoining houses that could block the construction of a property and no services under the ground that would be expensive to remove. Following that a review of the surrounding area should be taken to see if there are any examples of the form of development you want to carry out. It would appear that a similar form of development has been carried out on the opposite side of the road to form an extension to an existing house. If you are able to mimic this in the form of a new house then an infill may be possible.
